RED TAIL RIDGE
Hailing from the shores of Seneca Lake in upstate New York’s Finger Lakes wine region
“Needless to say, I have a really good relationship with my grower, because he’s my husband... I guess my philosophy is that the effort is up front, and then very little effort should go into the actual winemaking process. We are stewards of the fruit coming in, but really, hopefully, the fruit is of such quality and good condition that very little effort needs to be undertaken in the cellar to make a great wine.” – Winemaker, Nancy Irelan
Key Wines: Dry Riesling, Bubbles, and Blaufrankisch
Dry Riesling
NY – Finger Lakes
43% fermented and aged in neutral puncheon, 57% in stainless steel. Indigenous yeast fermentation. Citrus pith, lime juice, crunchy mango, and candied ginger on the nose, with hints of honeysuckle and earthy undertones. Blood orange in the mouth, with more ginger and floral notes. Mouth filling, slight phenolic edge with talcy finish extended by a prominent acid spine.
Perpétuelle Change
NY – Finger Lakes
Perpétuelle Change Cuvée No. 2 is pale peach in color, with a frothy, foamy mousse. Aromatics are of citrus peel, chalk, orange blossom and other small white flowers, with a hint of honey and black raspberry. With mouthfilling bubbles, the wine is lithe on the palate with a persistent acid spine. Subtle flavors of bright red fruits, lemon mousse, rose, and orange blossom flow towards a complex, lengthy finish of lightly saline minerals, petals, and berries.
